Empowering Insights Shared as AAU-IWAP Partnership Enters Third Year

On October 17, 2023, Anglo-American University hosted the monthly general meeting of the International Women’s Association of Prague (IWAP), an independent, non-political, non-profit organization providing financial and volunteer support to hundreds of Czech charities. This marked the start of the third year of a partnership between the two. 

This latest event shed light on the pressing issue of Afghan women’s lives under the Taliban regime, with a talk by professor Pamir H. Sahill, Ph.D., an AAU alumnus and lecturer at the School of International Relations and Diplomacy. The event was not just a lecture but a dialogue as well, and the ensuing Q & A session sparked thought-provoking conversations, allowing attendees to delve deeper into the topic. 

The talk was also attended by several AAU students, one of whom was Shabana Ahmadzai, an Afghan who had received a full scholarship at the university and who gave her personal account of life as a woman under Taliban rule, emphasizing the importance of cross-cultural understanding and support.

Each month, AAU welcomes IWAP members, a diverse group of local and expat women living in Prague, to hear talks from the university’s distinguished professors and alumni on critical issues and current topics ranging from history and international relations to the arts and music. No matter the topic, this collaboration aims to empower women and educate the public on vital global issues.
