Having spent significant portions of his life in Nairobi, Boston, and Prague, Conrad Eric Armstrong is an American artist and educator who has lived in the Czech Republic since 2004. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2002, he went on to complete his master’s studies in Jiří David’s atelier of Intermedia Confrontation at the Academy of Art, Architecture, and Design in Prague (UMPRUM) in 2010. His many teaching engagements (including the Prague British International School, UMPRUM, and Kreslírna, among others) also led him to pursue a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Nottingham, which he earned in 2020.

Conrad is primarily interested in the relationship between the academic and technical sides of art with the expressive and interpretive, and therefore aims to inspire in his students both intuitive and objective abilities. In addition to practicing painting, sculpture, and spoken word, Conrad is also an avid juggler and proponent of alternative modes of transportation (skateboarding and bicycling in particular).
